german media is reporting the highly anticipated BMW M2 Coupe will carry a starting price of around €54,000.It seems we were right assuming the M2 will cost more than €50,000 taking into account the rear-wheel drive manual M235i Coupe begins at €44,900 in Germany. Auto Bild cites unspecified sources close to Bavaria who disclosed a €54,000 starting price for the range-topping 2-Series, but we don't know whether this is for the six-speed manual version or the seven-speed DCT model.

If the rumored price tag refers to the manual M2, it means that if there will be a DCT-equipped version it will cost at least €56,000 which would still be a lot cheaper than the bigger M4 Coupe priced at €72,500 (DCT version is €76,400) at home in Germany.

Pricing aside, we remind you the M2 is set to enter production in November which means an official reveal will occur very soon. It will be motivated by a turbo-six 3.0-liter engine with an estimated 370 PS (272 kW) and 465 Nm (500 Nm with overboost). The 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) task should be completed in less than four and a half seconds while top speed will likely be electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h) or 170 mph (274 km/h) with the optional M Driver's Package.

[h=2]Public premiere in LA or Detroit[/h] The BMW M2 coupe will make its world premiere in October this year, according to a new report.

Citing unspecified sources, BMW Blog claims the high-performance model will be launched online in October. The first public appearance will likely take place during the LA Auto Show in November or at the 2016 NAIAS in early 2016.

Our source also says the teaser game for the vehicle will likely start in the coming weeks. The market launch is scheduled for March-April 2016.

At launch, the M2 will be offered with four colors - Long Beach Blue, Alpine White, Mineral Grey and Black Sapphire with the first one expected to be the official color of the show car.

From what we know about the sporty coupe so far, it will be powered by a 3.0-liter biturbo engine with around 370 PS (272 kW) and 465 Nm (343 lb-ft). The 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint should take no longer than four and a half seconds and top speed will likely be electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).

The starting price hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the model will reportedly start at 54,000 EUR.

BMW Deutschland has released a teaser image on its Facebook account and we believe it's related to the highly anticipated M2 Coupe.

Attached to this inconclusive teaser pic is the following caption: "Leidenschaftliche Performance. Freuen Sie sich auf einen spannenden Oktober!" which translated in English means "Passionate performance. Look forward to an exciting October!" Based on this text, we can only assume BMW is referring to the M2 which according to sources close to Bavaria will indeed be shown this October, with a reveal on the 14th expected.

There's actually very little we don't know about the M2 as previous reports have confirmed it will be offered with both a 6-speed manual and an optional 7-speed DCT. These two will be teamed up to a turbo-six 3.0-liter estimated to deliver about 370 PS (272 KW) and 465 Nm (500 Nm with overboost).

In terms of performance, the M2 is rumored to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) task in less than 4.5 seconds before topping out at an electronically-governed 155 mph (250 km/h), but there might be an optional package lifting the limiter to around 170 mph (274 km/h).

BMW apparently has plans to offer the M2 only with four exterior paints: Black Sapphire, Alpine White, Long Beach Blue and Mineral Grey. The interior will come only in black leather with blue stitching and it is believed 19-inch black rims will be the only alloy wheel set available. All cars will have rear parking sensors, carbon fiber inserts, shadow line in black along with a Navigation Pro system. Those willing to spend more will be able to add a rearview camera, power heated front seats, adaptive headlights, Harman Kardon audio system, tinted windows, Internet access and an extended 5-year warranty.

Deliveries of the BMW M2 Coupe will likely begin towards the end of the year or early 2016, with pricing reportedly starting from €54,000.

As a final note, we are not excluding the possibility this teaser is actually for the M4 GTS.
