There are no plans for an M7 there is no way your dealer will be driving the new F10 M5 because that is very much still at conception stage. The car testing with the M5 is the Twin-Turbo V8 , which kind of shows how BMW benchmark their models. If the new F10 550i can drive as good as the current M5 , then you will see how BMW have to overcome an obstacle to making the new M5 more progressive than the current M5. As of now there is no definite plan of action. At BMW we plan , develop and test all solutions so contradicting what the media say there is no concrete plans to replace the V10 with a V8 as both ideas are on the table , both turbo charged and utilising tech under "Efficient Dynamics" these prototypes are identified as current M5 sedans with additional extra cooling. That are using upgraded V8's and V10's as test beds connected to upgraded M-DKG gearboxes , and prototype manual boxes. There are ways to make the V10 more viable to todays requirements especially through Efficient Dynamics tech. And at BMW we develop and test all solutions. There is much development happening even as I speak. I am not going to mention of the speculation that the M5 will receive a V8 as many within BMW and indeed M Division think this would make the M5 like the competition and lose some of it's lustre. As there is much to do before the Frankfurt 2011 launch of the F10 M5 and that includes evaluating several prototypes A V10 would give BMW the edge over the competition just as the current M5 does today. BMW want to make the next generation of M cars more fuel efficient but still with that edge over the competition. I have no doubt Mercedes will have a V8 even turbocharged or NA? BMW will go further with turbo charging and technology such as an M developed dynamic drive technology aimed at offering a better, powerful and more efficient M5. And this includes ground breaking developments that will make headlines. Such as a production first KERS technology which was originally considered for the M3 CSL. But the technology is very much in infancy and not currently at BMW's expectations for a road car which is why the M3 CSL was postponed. When the technology is at it's optimum level then BMW will show off their development in a Concept car. People tend to not realise that BMW are not Audi , nor Mercedes-Benz therefore there is no need to illustrate BMW's product line as the complete double of our competition. Regarding our SAV's we know what we are doing and we know what emerging markets such cars will be successful in. We have to accept that markets that are big for us today will not be tomorrow. BMW might be getting applaudits and awards and upsetting traditionalists because we " Being Nice to the trees" But the new M5 will become a car that pushes the boundaries further in What Efficient Dynamics can do in a performance car. There will be performance , agility and the best car in the upper performance sector and greater efficiency. BMW want the next 5er to begin the countdown in dynamics,design,performance and efficiency and whet the appetite for the next M5. Yes we know about the demise of the beautiful CS Concept something I had hoped would have made it to production. Although the V12 was to power the range topper the M Division had plans for a ballistic high performance version of the V12 in which the car which would have been designated BMW 7er Gran Turismo, would have been a serious preformance flagship for BMW. The M1 Hommage was purely intended for a design exercise only but BMW began to investigate if people would get their cheque books out for a limited production version powered by either the V8 from the M3 or the incoming V8 Turbo found with the X5/X6 M models. When you seperate demand from the dreamers there was no specific case for a strategy. BMW have always had one concept in mind for a replacement for a Z8 - The California Spyder Project which made it through the final stages but abandoned for the CS Concept. A Gina style resurrection is on the cards as BMW will show the car in the run up something exciting and highly relevant today , for tomorrow . The California Spyder was a "0" emisssions vehicle as it was purely based on the hydrogen 7. Whether or not BMW add a Z4 Coupe to the E89 is all dependent on sales response , the previous coupe was introduced to increase sales to the Z4 E85. Now with the two both combined as both a Roadster and Coupe , the need for a coupe model has been diminished. Although a Coupe was created alongside the E89 it offered nothing new designwise except a fixed roof. Sales of the new Z4 have been exceptional so do not expect a return for a Z4 Coupe. X7 was purely abandoned on the basis that the X5 does the same job , and that a larger premium SAV was the last thing BMW needed to get involved with. The X5 is adequate to be the top line BMW SAV. As part of the interesting design Concepts BMW intended for a sister vehicle to accompany the X3 to take a new niche and a new approach in defying the conventional approach to an SAV. So the Sport activity Sedan was designed - a commanding driving position with a semi sedan shape was certainly unique and interesting , about the size of a 3er with a very sculpted body and SAV typical road height it would have been interesting to see it in public. As part of the current move to focus on the compact segment , the segment which will be completely about growth , there are many variations on the new modular structure of the next 1er under discussion for inclusion to broaden the appeal of the 1er for new customers. And that includes investigating new vehicle trends and specifically indentifing customers needs of what they would would consider in the compact segment. Non ci sono piani per uno M7 non vi è alcun modo il rivenditore sarà la guida del nuovo F10 M5 perché è ancora molto in fase di concepimento. La macchina di prova con la M5 è il Twin-Turbo V8, che tipo di BMW mostra come i loro modelli di riferimento. Se il nuovo F10 550i può guidare buono come l'attuale M5, poi si vedrà come BMW devono superare un ostacolo a rendere la nuova M5 più progressista a quella attuale M5.
